HERSCHEL
SPEAKER

For this project, we were split into teams and given a specific brand. We were then tasked with designing a product in the style of that brand, so it would fit into the feel of their product line. We had to research our brand, and present their values and mission along with their history and what kinds of materials and products they typically used.
My team was given the brand Herschel, and we were tasked with designing music speakers.

THE
PRESENTATION

For this presentation, I decided to do something a little differently. Instead of presenting traditional boards with all of our teams concepts laid out as per usual, I took advantage of our class being online through Zoom and decided to rebuild the Herschel website, but with our speakers being promoted as a new product being released. Because all the presentations were done through Zoom and screen sharing, it worked perfectly as I walked through the website as if I was a Herschel representative. It turned out to be an excellent excuse to learn website design, and was a fun way to bring something new to the standard presentation model.

The website can be seen HERE.

MY
PRODUCT

The user base for most Herschel products is younger individuals, typically students, who enjoy being outside and doing recreational activities. My speaker was aimed at users who enjoy listening to music outdoors while walking, hiking, being on the beach, etc., without worrying about securing a speaker to their bag or listening to music from the inside of their closed backpack.

I modeled my speaker after the classic Herschel two-tone look, with a metal bar on the pack that pulls out and can be secured in the headphone wire hole that are seen on most backpacks. The speaker will be securely hooked into the backpack allowing physical activities to be done without worrying about losing it, and it can be made to match or contrast users Herschel backpacks.
